Our Story
Calico has been planning, building and hosting websites for over 20 years. We are one of the longest running independent digital agencies in Australia.
We first opened our doors as ‘Monkii’ back in 2003, building interactive sites and working on campaigns for large advertising agencies across Australia. We soon found ourselves wanting to work directly with our clients, relishing the opportunity to build strong partnerships and create digital solutions that inspire.
Over time, we have grown steadily, working alongside many of Melbourne’s most loved cultural attractions, such as The Royal Botanic Gardens, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Zoos Victoria and White Night.
Through successful projects with these high profile consumer sites, we started attracting partnerships and brands from all types of sectors and industries. From education to events, medicine to superannuation, our knowledge and experience goes beyond the cultural institutions we are best known for.
In early 2022, after nearly two decades as Monkii, we wanted to mark our evolution and growth as a company with a new name – Calico.
Today, Calico is a well-resourced, full-service digital agency located in the centre of Melbourne with over 25 full-time digital specialists, encompassing an impressive range of industry experience and first-rate skills.
At the head of the team are Matt and Andy. With over 40 years of digital business experience between them, they are the driving force behind Calico’s bright past and spearheading the agency into an exciting new era.
